Serene, Brandon, and Sydney are here. I love it when all the kids are back home! Life is good! I get to put Sydney to bed each night, what a privilege that is.

Yesterday when Abbie was here helping with the kitchen, she wanted an animal cracker. Her mama said no, that she'd had enough, and then it happened. I got my name. I started to walk out of the kitchen and Abbie looked at me and said BaBa and pointed to the cookies. I got my name!!! So BaBa told Slapps that I was giving her a cookie no matter what!! All Abbie has to do is look at me with her big blue eyes and say BaBa and that's all it takes, I melt like butter in the sun.

I got Jacob for a few days while Erin went to girls camp and we had an awesome time. He was a pretty good boy. I can't believe how big he's getting. I finished Hailey's quilt and her blessing blanket. I'll post pictures later, I have to take them first!!

Being a Grandma is the best!!! It certainly makes all those years raising their parents worth it!!!

This morning I harvested some black-eyed peas!! Ok, I picked about 25 but it is still a harvest to me. My garden is growing and doing so well. We've been eating out of it every day. Today I'm baking bread in my solar oven!! Can't wait to eat some with butter and loganberry jam!

My first try at cooking with a solar oven.......not too bad. Potatoes could of been cooked a little more. It would of worked better if I hadn't tilted the oven. Keeping the oven flat in the summer is the key. When I did that she started heating right up, but alas, it was almost time to eat. Tomorrow is another day and I have dinner in the pot ready to put in the solar oven. Dinner was awesome though. We ate from our garden and it was indeed yummy!!!!

Here we are firing up the solar oven!! I took potatoes, butter, onions, salt and pepper, and some
beef broth, mixed them up and the sun's doing the rest. I can't wait to taste them. They looked really
good in the pot before being cooked. I also cut up some, fresh from the garden, yellow squash and
zuccini. I put them next to the pot of potatoes. Roast beef is in the crock pot, homemade whole wheat
bread and jam. I can't wait for dinner!! Hummmm, what to cook for tomorrow?????

Ala, Melissa, Abbie, Jacob, Johnny and I went to the Fort Worth Zoo today. We had so much fun. Here's Ala climbing up the rock wall. She made it to the top and rang the bell! We had such a fun day and saw so many incredible animals.
